Tessa Rex

Tessa Rex is jack of a few trades, master of some; a documentary artist working across photography, radio and video.

In the past she co-produced The Third Degree, an environment and social justice radio show which received the 2010 UTS Human Rights Award in Creative Media and co-directed and organised The Cardshow, an art exhibition raising money for the Muckaty anti-nuclear waste dump campaign.

In the past year Rex had her first solo photography exhibition; made short documentaries about the arab spring in Bahrain, the Night Bus in Brooklyn and The Williamsburg Houses; and recently produced two new installation videos – TRASH TALK and LOVE ME NY. She’s influenced by social justice, architecture, industry and lo-fi formats.

Rex was a collaborative fellow at Union Docs Centre for Documentary Art in Brookyn, NY, where she was a recipient of the Ian Potter Cultural Trust Travelling Fellowship. She has exhibited work in Sydney, Istanbul, Berlin and New York and is currently working on two new feature documentaries.
