Electronic Media Arts (EMA)

EMA was a not for profit organisation representing and promoting the electronic arts in Australia. It's main role during the time of its operation was related to the staging of the Australian International Video Festival and the support of artists to produce and exhibit electronic art works.

The organisation had a significant impact on the way that video and other emerging art practices developed in Sydney.

In late 1994, under increasing pressure from funding bodies such as the Australian Film Commission, EMA approached the Sydney Intermedia Network (SIN) with a proposal to transfer EMA assets and membership to SIN. EMA was forced to cease operations in 1995, and the committees of both SIN and EMA agreed to transfer all EMA membership and assets to SIN.
